The Color Fred's first release, Bend to Break, put smiles on the faces of Taking Back Sunday fans everywhere who were saddened when Fred Mascherino left the band. Many of those fans are right here at peta2. Something else that has brought smiles to Fred's fans at peta2 is Fred's brand-new vegan print PSA for peta2.

Fred—who has been vegan for about 11 years—first went vegetarian as a teenager when he learned how animals are treated before becoming meals for humans. Like many other people who refuse to eat flesh, Fred made the connection between animals who were considered to be food and those considered to be companions. In fact, he used to tell people that he stopped eating meat because he loved his dog.

Another subject near and dear to Fred's heart is the environment, and wouldn't you know it, going vegan is the best thing that you can do to help heal the Earth! Fred says, "I'm vegan because it's the most effective way that I can help the environment. The meat industry causes more pollution than all the cars, trucks, planes, and ships in the world combined. And ya know what? The animals don't mind it, either." Check out what else Fred has to say in our exclusive interview.

One of the easiest and best things that you can do to help animals is not eating them, and as Fred points out, it's also the best thing that you can do for the environment. Helping animals and the planet at the same time sounds like a win-win situation to us, so why not do us all a favor by pledging to go vegetarian? It's easier than you think. We promise!
