Mission: Tell the Zoological Wildlife Foundation to End Photo Ops!
After pressure from a PETA campaign in the wake of HBO’s explosive docuseries Chimp Crazy, Limbani the chimpanzee was transferred from the Zoological Wildlife Foundation (ZWF)—a roadside zoo in Miami—to an accredited sanctuary! This is great news, but we can’t stop now—we need to use this momentum to help other animals exploited at this shady facility.
ZWF, operated by Tiger King villain and felon Mario Tabraue, forces wild animals into cruel and dangerous photo ops. The facility was one of the last remaining tourist traps in the U.S. using big-cat cubs for distressing photo ops before the Big Cat Public Safety Act made doing so illegal. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued Tabraue an official warning after a lion cub bit a guest during a photo op. And a construction worker’s finger was once even bitten off by a tiger at a facility owned by ZWF Miami.
In 2024 alone, the USDA cited ZWF Miami for seven different bite incidents during pricey “encounters” with animals like Romeo, a young capuchin monkey. When he’s not being dragged around on a leash and manhandled by strangers, Romeo and the other primates at ZWF Miami are confined to tiny, barren cages without anything meaningful to them.
For this hellhole, denying primates and other animals everything natural and important to them is business as usual. In the late 1980s, Tabraue was found guilty on racketeering charges after he was busted for a drug-smuggling enterprise that allegedly stuffed drugs into live snakes. Now, he’s found new ways to torment animals—thrusting them into the arms of strangers for profit and a few clicks on IG.

The animals stuck at ZWF will stay miserable unless we stand up for them. Accredited sanctuaries could give them the care and opportunity to live in peace that they deserve—and you can help make relocations possible while earning peta2 points in our Rewards Program! 🥰 Here’s what to do:
1. Comment on one of ZWF Miami’s IG posts urging the roadside zoo to end its cruel public encounters and send the animals to reputable facilities.
2. Take a screenshot of your comment and submit it for 15 peta2 points. (Heads-up: You’ll only get points once for taking this action.)
