See How This Teen is Saving Animals with peta2 Rewards Program
ICYMI, peta2 Rewards makes taking action for animals easier than ever, with dozens of resources for young people to speak up for animals online and offline. Nothing is better than helping animals but earning points for those efforts that you can cash in for freebies comes pretty darn close. 🥳
19-year-old Tabby Dimock is a peta2 Rewards member who is dedicated to making the world a kinder place for animals everywhere. She can be found advocating for adopting animals and never buying them from breeders or pet stores, protesting the sale of glue traps at stores in her community, and spreading positive messages about being vegan. On top of all of that, she is this year’s top peta2 Rewards member, completing the most actions and earning the most points. 🤩
When asked what her favorite thing about being a peta2 Rewards member is, she said, “Honestly, my favorite thing is the rewards; I mean, that would be everyone’s favorite thing; they’re fun and useful; the first thing I got was the two books and the plush pillow.”
We also asked Tabby what animal rights issues she is most passionate about and why. Check out what she had to say:
“I’ll always fight for all animals, but the most I desire is the fight for animals in the pet trade, animal testing, and victims of lethal rodent traps. I have a major soft spot for mice and parrots, I was inspired by a cockatoo named Moxxie to open my own animal sanctuary. I’ve rescued and helped rescue a lot of animals, dogs, cats, birds, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates.”
Tabby wants people to know the importance of adoption, which means giving a loving home to a dog or cat in an animal shelter or struggling to survive on the streets. At any given time, there are about 70 million homeless animals in the U.S.
“There’s still a lot that boggles me, like how someone can look at a mouse and wish harm upon their species or how someone can buy from a breeder or pet store while knowing that there are healthy animals being euthanized in shelters every day.”
For her dedication to peta2 Rewards missions and taking compassionate action to speak up for animals, peta2 is presenting Tabby with our Hero to Animals Award.
When asked what advice she would give other young people who want to get active for animals in their community, Tabby shared these thoughts:
“Don’t be afraid, and don’t let people push you down. I’ve had my fair share of hate from others, but this isn’t about them; this is about those who need me. I also advise entering the world of veganism from a collective liberation standpoint. There are a lot of living beings out there, human and nonhuman, that need a hero. I always make sure to make time to help everyone, from donating money to my local shelter to donating blood for people who need it.”
Keep up the amazing work, Tabby! Animals are lucky to have you on their side. 🐁🐔🐷
