24 dates
1 bag of vegan chocolate chips, melted (we used Enjoy Life)
Vegan sprinkles (Sweetapolita, Watkins, and Color Kitchen make vegan sprinkles)*
Parchment paper
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate in the top of a double boiler over 1 cup boiling water, stirring occasionally. When melted, turn the heat down to a gentle simmer.*
- Spilt dates open to form a heart shape. If they still have the pit, remove it before dipping them in the chocolate. Place your date hearts on parchment paper.
- Add sprinkles before the chocolate starts to harden. To speed things up you can put them in the fridge to chill.
- Repeat until you’ve used all your melted chocolate.
Notes
- *Some sprinkles contain dairy, eggs, gelatin, beeswax, or hidden animal-based ingredients like confectioner’s glaze, carmine, and shellac.
- *Don’t have a double boiler? Add your vegan chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir, then microwave for an additional 20-25 seconds before stirring again. Continue heating in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
