Mission: Did Your Food Have a Face?

Want to inspire as many friends, relatives, and community members as possible to stop eating animal-derived foods? Keep reading for a super-creative way to make them realize who they’re eating. Spoiler: Things are about to get a lot more personal. 😶

As part of peta2’s “Your Sign to Save Animals” campaign, you can complete weekly missions based on different zodiac signs. We’re taking inspo from air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) and their major strengths—thinking, communicating, and being curious and adventurous. 🌬️

The Mission

No matter what your sign is, channel these air sign strengths to change others’ minds about eating animal-derived foods like meat, eggs, and dairy. Draw a pair of eyes on a piece of paper or use googly eyes and write a note saying, “Your food had a face.”

Then, following your thirst for adventure, put this note on an animal-based food in your fridge or at a store. You know that this will spark others’ air sign sense of curiosity when they see it. Billions of animals are tortured and slaughtered for food every year—their screams unheard and faces unseen. But by showing others that their food had a face, you can help reduce the number of animals used for food and let them live in peace with their loved ones.

But Why?

All sentient beings have unique personalities, feel pain, and deserve to live—and have a face. After reading your piece of paper, nonvegans will realize that the flesh in that package was once a live animal with thoughts and feelings of their own. They’ll probably be way more likely to start choosing bussin’ vegan food instead. Eating another being whose life was destroyed sounds pretty unappetizing.
