Joe Duplantier of Gojira Performed at the Olympics AND Saves Animals! 😍
If you saw clips of French metal band Gojira shredding at the 2024 Paris Olympics, here’s something that’ll make you an even bigger fan: The group isn’t shy about supporting animal and environmental causes—and now lead singer Joe Duplantier is collabing with us to fight for a vegan revolution!
Duplantier opens the video—shot at his recording studio in New York, Silver Cord Studio—by saying, “There is a true vegan revolution happening. It is not a trend—it’s an awakening.” We totally agree—more and more of us are choosing to go vegan to prevent animals from suffering, save the planet, and improve our health.
In 2014, Duplantier chose to go vegan to help animals avoid living and dying in misery in the meat, egg, and dairy industries. He’s also reaping the health benefits, saying he has more energy to perform now. That means the power of vegan food fueled his electrifying performance at the Olympics. 👨🎤💪
Many of Gojira’s songs deal with animal rights and environmentalism. On one of the band’s biggest hits, “Silvera,” Duplantier sings, “No other blood in me but mine” and “When you change yourself, you change the world.” He says that music is a great way to communicate these and other ideas because of the emotions involved—and Gojira is high-key amazing at doing exactly that.
The band has used its lyrics and music videos to bring attention to climate change, marine pollution, and the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest. We love to see that type of activism!
