Mission: Aritzia Still Sells Leather—But You Can Help Change That
Clothing retailer Aritzia already offers a ton of stunning vegan leather jackets, pants, and skirts—so why is it still selling leather made from dead animals’ skin? 😒 Urge the company to ditch animal-derived leather!
Cows are sensitive individuals who can recognize over 100 other cows and have thoughts, feelings, and relationships—but to the leather industry, they’re nothing more than exploitable objects. They’re forced to endure joyless lives in cramped, filthy conditions and die kicking and screaming on a slaughterhouse floor. Often, they’re still conscious and in full view of other animals when their throats are slit. Some are still alive as their skin is ripped off. 😱
As if this cruelty wasn’t bad enough, leather production—which is directly linked to animal agriculture—is also straight-up catastrophic to the environment. It causes millions of tons of carbon to be released into the atmosphere each year and pollutes the water and soil with toxic chemicals. This destruction happens, and brands like Aritzia make a profit, even though they already sell vegan leather and know how popular it is. 🤦♀️
