Mission: Use This Poster to Speak Up for ‘Backyard Dogs’

Who’s sadder than dogs kept chained outside 24/7/365? 😢🐶 They may never get to explore the neighborhood or sleep inside with their human family—but there’s a way for you to help them! Display this poster in your school to give “backyard dogs” a helping paw. 🐾

Keeping dogs indoors is simply better for everyone. 👍 Here are a few things dogs who live indoors tend to be:

  • Happier, as dogs are social animals who need companionship
  • Calmer and more protective of their “pack” (their human fam)
  • Less likely to bite or be attacked by other dogs
  • Cleaner and less likely to get fleas or worms

If you know a dog who’s kept chained or penned in a yard, there are tons of ways to help give their life a glow-up. Try befriending their owner and asking them to let the dog inside—especially during extreme weather—and to help give the dog a longer and healthier life by having them spayed or neutered. 🥰

You can also offer to help make sure the dog always has plenty of food and fresh water, lightweight tie-outs instead of heavy chains, and toys to play with. 🐶😊
