Mission: Share Your Animal Advocate Transformation Story
Some people think vegans were born that way, but that isn’t true for most of us. We learned and we changed, and that’s something anyone can do. Most of us had habits—like eating meat or wearing leather—we may not have realized negatively affected animals, but guess what? You are not your past, and you can be the best version of yourself in the here and now. ❤️
It’s always inspiring to read transformation stories. Here are some ways you may have already influenced people just by being your compassionate self:
- Is there a friend at school who’s trying vegan foods because of your yummy lunches?
- Do you have a family member who no longer supports SeaWorld?
- Did some of your classmates join you in opting out of animal dissection last year?
Showing people the changes you’ve made in your life is one of the best ways to get them to realize it’s totally doable to go vegan and make compassionate choices.
It’s time to share your transformation stories! If you need inspo, check out some of ours:
When I was a kid, I thought this photo was so cool. Then I learned that captive-animal displays place very unnatural restrictions on their residents. I realized that if I loved animals, I shouldn’t pay for them to be trapped in small enclosures. In these displays, the animals’ natural behavior is rarely discussed—much less observed—and their basic needs are rarely met. Because I learned about captive-animal displays that profit at the expense of animals, this photo now breaks my heart.

I wore UGGs religiously throughout middle school and into high school. I felt so cool when I wore them, and I always got a lot of compliments. My family would try to get me the dupes, but I was so set on having name-brand UGGs that I didn’t even realize they were animal-derived products. When I found out, I was horrified. I have since donated my old pairs and now wear only animal-free shoes.

I have always been obsessed with ‘the wild’ and wanted to know everything about Alaska—America’s ‘last frontier.’ Back then, I didn’t know about the death involved in that state’s Iditarod dog-sled race. Any business or event that uses animals for entertainment is always exploitative. These dogs shouldn’t have to pull people around—they should be out playing in the snow on their own terms and should have a warm home to stay in when they’re not outside. This photo no longer makes me smile. It serves as a reminder that, unlike the dogs who are forced to run for human amusement, I run road races because I choose to do so.
