Eating Animals is Linked to the #1 Killer—Heart Disease
Most of us prob don’t think about heart disease much—but just ‘cause we’re young doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect us. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the U.S., and even if it doesn’t kill you, it can keep you from living life to the fullest. Here’s the good news: Eating vegan is one of the best ways to keep your heart healthy!
Why Heart Disease Sucks
There’s nothing fun about heart disease. If you have heart disease, you might struggle with exhaustion, pain, trouble breathing and sleeping, or swelling in your legs or stomach. You could also spend a lot of time in and out of clinics and hospitals, which is srsly a drag. ☹️

Ignoring your heart health isn’t worth missing out on playing sports or getting a good night’s sleep. Plus, animals are counting on you to stay healthy. Being a strong advocate takes a lot of energy, and heart disease drains that energy right out of you.
What Causes Heart Disease?
Heart disease is caused by a buildup of plaque in your arteries. It’s as scary as it sounds—plaque can clog your arteries and reduce blood flow to your heart. 😨 This reduced blood flow leads to all those sucky issues.
So, what causes plaque in the first place? The #1 culprit is almost always cholesterol deposits brought on by eating high-cholesterol foods. That means we need to keep our cholesterol intake as low as possible to avoid this nasty plaque.
The Risk of Eating Animals
Here’s an easy rule to remember when choosing what food to eat: If it comes from an animal, it’s packed with cholesterol. Check out these stats: chicken has 123 mg of cholesterol per serving, salmon has 109 mg, and one egg has a whopping 200 mg. 😲

Doctors recommend eating less than 300 mg of cholesterol daily, so eating chicken and an egg daily puts you over that limit. It’s even more frightening if you have high cholesterol or heart disease risk: You shouldn’t eat more than 200 mg of cholesterol per day, so eating a single egg is dangerous af.
The Vegan Solution
Don’t worry; the doom and gloom ends here. You can protect yourself from heart disease by eating low-cholesterol foods. These foods include nuts, seeds, fruits, veggies, and whole grains. And oh, look at that, they’re all vegan. 💁

That’s no coincidence—all vegan foods are completely cholesterol-free! Plus, they’re generally much lower in saturated fat (another artery-clogger) than animal-derived foods. Eating vegan is one of the most heart-healthy decisions you can make.
Who You’ll Be Helping
Your heart won’t be the only one who’s grateful that you eat vegan—billions of cows, pigs, chickens, fish, lobsters, and other animals would thank you if we could understand their languages. The animal agriculture industry tears animals away from their fams, keeps them crammed in tiny enclosures, sexually assaults them, mutilates them, and violently kills them. But humans like you can help save them from this nightmare.

Switching to non-dairy milk, vegan meat, egg replacements, and other mouthwatering animal-friendly foods drives the demand for cruelty to animals down. When corporations see their profits tank, they’ll have no reason to torment animals anymore. You and animals don’t deserve to have your wellness destroyed just for chicken nuggets or a slice of cheese that could easily be made entirely from plants. The science is clear: Help everyone live their best lives by going vegan! 👏
